The Stanley is the venue everyone’s heard of — the 1909 Georgian grand hotel that inspired The Shining, perched above town with views across the Estes Valley. It’s also the most requested wedding venue in Estes Park, which has real implications for your budget and your booking timeline.
Event spaces
The Stanley’s current wedding spaces run from open lawn to grand indoor hall. Longs Peak Lawn is the marquee ceremony site — an open lawn with a panorama of thirteen peaks toward Longs Peak. The Pavilion is the largest reception space: a 250-seat glass-door auditorium with more than 8,000 square feet of banquet room, set against a private pond. For smaller gatherings, the Library (about 40 guests, with its own veranda) and Lodge Manor (up to about 60) handle intimate ceremonies, receptions, and rehearsal dinners. Guest counts run from two-person elopements up to roughly 200, depending on the space.
What it costs
The Stanley sits at the top of the Estes Park market. Exact venue fees vary by space, day of week, and season — and the hotel updates pricing regularly, so treat any number you read online (including here) as a starting point and get a current quote.
What to know
- Book early. Peak Saturdays (June–September) at the Stanley go 12–18 months out.
- Your guests will want rooms. On-site lodging is a huge convenience, but the hotel is a busy tourist attraction year-round — room blocks should be arranged when you book the venue.
- Tourists are part of the deal. Ghost tours run daily. Your photos in the lobby will have an audience. Most couples find it charming; if you don’t, look at Della Terra or Black Canyon Inn for privacy.
- Weather backup is built in. Unlike outdoor-only venues, the Stanley’s indoor spaces make afternoon thunderstorms (a daily July occurrence) a non-issue.
Rehearsal dinner nearby
On-site, Cascades handles groups. If you want a change of scene and a more relaxed night, The Bull Pin is 5 minutes away — bowling, arcade, and a private-events menu that works well as a contrast to a formal Stanley wedding day. See our full rehearsal dinner guide.
